History

The first Stockholm Burlesque Festival was born in 2010, initiated by some of Sweden’s burlesque pioneers: Duchess Dubois and her award winning troupe The Amazing Knicker Kittens. Superstars like World Famous *BOB*, Indigo Blue and Trixie Little and Evil Hate Monkey came to Stockholm’s beautiful, historical venue, Berns.

After a one year break in 2011 the producer duo Fräulein Frauke and John Paul Bichard were invited to join the organizer team for its come-back in 2012: with a gorgeous event headlined by Finnish burlesque queen Loulou D´Vil, neo star Fancy Chance, the fabulous Luna Rosa and award winning Laurie Hagen. A fantastic line-up of burlesque, boylesque, polesque and cabaret with performers from 11 countries and three continents joining us for a four day extravaganza!

2013, 2014 and 2015 offered an even bigger and more spectacular event in two of Stockholm’s most gorgeous venue’s: Nalen and Södra Teatern. Amazing talents took the stage like Banbury Cross, Minnie Tonka, Mr Pustra, Sydni Deveraux, Sina King, Lola Frost, Raven and Tigger!, to mention only a few and hosted by non other than The Carny Preacher himself Armitage Shanks (2013 & 2015) and Reuben Kaye (2014).

Now, in its sixth year, the SBF is considered one of the best burlesque festival of it’s kind and is one of Europe’s largest burlesque events with its 1100 + guests.

This years festival will take place at the 1930’s Nalen Ballroom. Stockholms’s dance and jazz palace hosting numerous of famous performers over the years and now the home of Sweden’s biggest burlesque and cabaret show “Fräulein Frauke Presents”.

Part of the festival since the beginning is “Octbooberfest”- a Pink Ribbon campaign fundraiser and The Championship in Tassel Twirling, initiated by Duchess Dubois in 2009.
